Nine Afcon players dropped as Ghana names 18-man squad for friendly against Chile

Ghana has named an 18-man squad to face Chile in a friendly match to be played at the PPL Park in Philadelphia, United States February 29, 2012.

Nine players who played at the last Nations Cup (Afcon 2012) – Samuel Inkoom, Prince Tagoe, John Mensah, Charles Takyi, Agyemang Badu, Ernest Sowah, Mohammed Abu and Isaac Vorsah were all dropped from the squad by Coach Goran Stevanovic.

Abused Asamoah Gyan was also excluded from the squad after announcing his ‘indefinite’ break from international duties in order to recover from verbal abuse he suffered from a section of the Ghanaian public after missing crucial penalties in recent matches.
