Ghanaian amateur boxers to justify inclusion ahead of Africa Olympic qualifier

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) will on Saturday, February 25, 2012 stage a justify-your-inclusion exercise for the National Amateur Boxing Team, the Black Bombers at the Bridge Boxing Gym, Roman Ridge – Accra.

The exercise is to select competent boxers and to prepare the team ahead of the Africa Olympic Qualifier scheduled for 27th April – 6th May, 2012 in Casablanca, Morocco.

A statement from the GABF copied to GNA Sports said the Federation aims at selecting a formidable squad for the Olympic qualifier to ensure qualification to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

According to the statement, boxers will be competing in nine (9) weight categories; 49Kg, 52Kg, 56Kg, 60Kg, 64Kg, 69Kg, 75Kg, 81Kg and 91Kg.

It said the exercise will be sponsored by Geodrill Mining Company and promises to be full of fireworks as all boxers will strive to book their tickets to the Casablanca event.

The statement said some boxers based in the United Kingdom (UK); Isaac Dogboe, Michael Amoo-Bediako, Lerrone Richards and Joshua Buatsi will also be participating in the qualifiers.

They will be competing in the 56Kg, 60Kg, 75Kg and 81Kg and the Federation has therefore extended invitation to all boxing enthusiasts to patronize the exercise.
