Ghana League Clubs Association elects Alhaji Raji as new Chairman

Alhaji Ali Braimah Raji, interim Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) has finally been confirmed as the substantive Chairman of the Association after elections on Thursday, February 16.

Alhaji Raji went unopposed following the withdrawal of Vincent Sowah Odotei from the race, paving the way for the delegates to confirm him as the Chairman in accordance to the statutes of the constitution.

The newly elected Chairman will now take over from Emmanuel Adotey who was compelled to resign with his entire executives last year over issues of finances of the Association.

Starke FC’s Isaac Wilberforce Koomson  swept off a stiff competition from  big wigs like Jones Abu Alhassan and Nana Oduro Sarfo who polled 34 and 27 votes respectively behind the winner who had 40 votes to win the day.

George Amoako went unopposed as the Treasurer of the Association, after Cecelia Mensah withdrew from the race, whilst Hearts’ of Oak’s Albert Commey took the Premiership position on the Executive Board, with 83 votes ahead of John Ansah (Ebusua Dwarfs) – 64, Gabby Musah (Mighty Jets) – 42 and Alex Ackumey (New Edubiase) – 11 votes.

Kofi Poku (B.A Stars) polled 35 votes to beat Oloboi Commodore (SP Mirren) – (28), Francis Anum (Okwawu United) – 20 and Frederick Nimako (King Solomon -15 for the Division One slot while Samuel Aboabir  (Mitdjyland) polled 88 votes to beat Martin Owusu (K.K.Adonteng) -16 to land the Division Two slot.
