Zambia wins 2012 Afcon trophy

Zambia is champions of the 2012 African Nations Cup tournament beating star-studded Ivory Coast 8-7 on penalties in Libreville, Gabon.

This is the first time the Copper Bullets have won the trophy.

After 90 minutes, the match went into extra-time. Didier Drogba missed a penalty on the 70th minute in the second half.

The Zambian team were keen on winning the trophy to honour their players who lost their lives in a plane crash in Gabon.

The guys played to win. i am so proud of them. we were regarded as the underdogs but we shocked everyone. well done boys, well done. proudly zambian indeed. i just knew it was coming this time around.
