Ghana receives certificates of participation after losing 0-2 to Mali in Afcon third place match

In their final match at the African Nations Cup, that Ghanaians had hoped to get a consolation bronze medal but the Black Stars were beaten 2-0 by a more determined and organised Malian team to win third place.

Ghana was given certificates of participation while the Mali team received bronze medals. The Black Stars lined up first to receive the certificates and the Malians followed in jubilation to receive the medals.

Cheick Diabate scored the two goals in each half to beat 10-man Ghana.

Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah was shown the red card after he received a second yellow card reducing the team to 10-men.

The Black Stars played this game without key striker Asamoah Gyan and Captain John Mensah who were all injured in the semi-final match against Zambia.
