Farmer defrauds trader at Atwima Sepaase
A fourty-nine-year-old farmer, Nana Annin Asumah of Sepaase in the Atwima Nwabiagya District has been committed to a bail of GH¢200,000.00 with a surety by the Nkawie Circuit Court for defrauding Madam Afua Aniwaa of Patasi, a suburb of Kumasi.
The accused pleaded not guilty and would re-appear in court on February 20, 2012.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Philip Jagri told the court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie that the complainant was a trader who met the accused through a friend.
Prosecution said accused who claimed to be a family head sold to the complainant a piece of plot with accompanying allocation documents at a total cost of GH¢10,000.00.
Police chief Inspector Bagri said on June 13, 2011, the complainant visited the plot and saw that someone else was working on it.
Upon inquiring from the person working on the land she was told the accused had sold out the land to him.
Complainant then demanded her money from accused but all efforts proved futile.
Police Chief Inspector Jagri said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and after investigations he was charged with t he offence.
