Police arrests three persons for stealing motor bikes

Hillary Angawine, 18,from Bawku in the Upper East Region, who was recently charged by the Bolgatanga Court  for stealing a motorbike, and fined GH¢60.00  has been re arrested for the same crime.

He was re-arrested for allegedly being part of a motorbike stealing syndicate.

Also arrested are his accomplices, Ayine Ayala Mohammed, 30 years, a mobile phone and bicycle repairer and Mr Noble Mort, 19.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Godson Letsyo, Bolgatanga Municipal Crime Officer, who made this known to journalists in Bolgatanga on Tuesday,  said the complainant, Mr Fatau Musah, a motor bike seller, popularly called ‘nine nine’, woke up on  January 24, and detected that his two motor bikes were stolen, leading to the arrest of  who used to work with him.

He said upon interrogation Mort named Ayine and Hillary as those who broke into the complainant’s room to steal the motor bikes.

According to ASP Letsyo, Ayine was arrested and a search conducted in his house led to the recovery of five other motor bikes, which had no number plates on them.

He said the three would be arraign to face the full rigours of the law.

ASP Letsyo said the Police in Bolgatanga was leaving no stone unturned to get rid of robbery in the municipality.

He advised the public to desist from leaving keys on their doors, saying most robbers drill holes in order to reach the keys.
