Save with financial institutions – MCE

Mrs Christina Kobinah, Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa/Nsuaem, has appealed to members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to save with financial institutions to enable them purchase vehicles on loan.

She said the low savings rate in our society is because of the profligate spending and urged drivers to be frugal in their expenditure to leave a comfortable lifestyle at old age.

Mrs Kobinah said this in a speech read on her behalf at the Delegates’ Conference of the Nsuaem GPRTU to elect officers to steer the affairs of the union for the next four years.

The five-member executives elected include, Mr. Frederick Nketsia, chairperson, Mr. Kwasi Armoo, vice-chairperson, Mr. Kwabena Anane, secretary, Mr. James Cudjoe, 1st trustee and Mr. Thomas Boakye, 2nd trustee.

“You should develop and inculcate the savings habit and submit to the discipline of profitable and productive time usage for your own good and society in general”, Mrs Kobinah said.

The Tarkwa/Nsuaem District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Alex Acquah, charged the union to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure law and order on the road.

He entreated the leadership of the union to impress upon its members to acquire valid driving licenses and update the documents covering their vehicles to avoid harassment from the security agencies.

Mr Owusu Addo, Tarkwa/Nsuaem Municipal Electoral Officer supervised the elections, which was organized in a peaceful atmosphere and the the Western Regional Industrial Relations Officer of the GPRTU, Madam Gertrude Lucy Bentum, administered the oath of secrecy and swore them into office.
