Police apprehends two students in Bolgatanga

The police on Thursday arrested two students, who were part of a stealing syndicate that harassed residents in Bolgatanga, especially those at Bolgatanga SSNIT flats and Bolgatanga Estates.

They are Razak Elise, a 22, student of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, believed to be leader of the group, and Majeed Sumani, 18-year- old, Junior High School student.

District Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)  Godson Letsyo, who confirmed the story to GNA, said the group  operated mainly in the afternoons when workers had left for work.

He said because the group had sent their booty to Accra for sale, the police was finding investigations into the case difficult.

ASP Letsyo said when the police conducted a search in the houses of the suspects, some items were retrieved.

He said police patrol has been intensified in the residential areas and asked the people  to go about their duties without fear.

ASP Letsyo warned that the police would deal drastically with criminals in the area.
