Armed robbers kill Petrol Station Manager near Agona Swedru

Four masked armed robbers on Tuesday evening attacked the Petrol Afrique Filling Station at Gomoa Ekwamkrom near Agona Swedru and killed the manager, Mr Eric Inkoom.

The robbers also wounded two workers and made away with GH¢120.00 cash.

The names of the workers, including a sales girl and another girl who were wounded from severe beating by the robbers were, however, not immediately known.

They have been admitted at the Agona Swedru government hospital for treatment.

Mr Stephen Appiah, a worker at the station who made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru on Thursday, said the incident happened at about 20.30 hours on January 18,  2012.

Mr Appiah said the four masked armed robbers armed with weapons, arrived at the manager’s office when they were checking their daily sales and ordered them to surrender all monies to them.

Mr Appiah said the robbers ordered the workers to lie down in prostrate position including the manager, who ordered that all monies in the safe be given to the robbers.

Mr Appiah said one of the rubbers shot at the manager, killing him instantly and later locked up the rest of workers including the two girls in the office before escaping.

He said the rubbers fled the scene before police personnel from a nearby barrier arrived at the scene.

The body of the manager has been deposited at mortuary of the Swedru Government hospital for autopsy.
