Attorney-General Martin Amidu relieved of his post

President John Evans Atta Mills has relieved the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Martin A.B.K. Amidu, of his post.

A press release sighted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday said the President has written a letter to Mr Amidu on his decision.

The letter cited Mr Amidu’s misconduct at a meeting presided over by President Mills last Friday, January 13.

It said Mr Amidu’s behaviour at the meeting was “incompatible with acceptable standards” of a Minister and Appointee of the President.

President Mills thanked Mr Amidu for his service to the nation.

Meanwhile, the President has asked Dr. Benjamin Kunbour, Minister of the Interior, to take temporary responsibility of the Ministry of Justice.

Dr Kunbour has been asked to continue with all cases in court.
