Trained youth receive GH¢20,000 worth equipment under Rural Enterprises Project

The Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly acting together with the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) has presented tools and equipment worth GH¢20,000.00 to 40 young men and women trained under the Rural Enterprises Project (REP).

These included hair and hand dryers, UV sterilizers, hair clippers, sewing and over locking machines, electric irons, electric welding and drilling machines, hack saw, punch and chisel, sledge hammer and hand trowels.

The goal is to aid the beneficiaries who had received skilled training in hairdressing, barbering, dressmaking, electric welding, blacksmithing, general electrical, carpentry, masonry, and motorbike mechanics to start up their own businesses.

Nana Asare Bediako, the District Chief Executive, handing the kits to the beneficiaries at a ceremony at Nkawie, said this was part of the effort at helping the youth to become economically self-supporting.

He said more unemployed young people in the district would be trained in various trades and vocations and advised the beneficiaries to put the tools to good use so as to earn a decent living.

Mr Adjei Bonsu, the Head of BAC in the District, called on the youth, particularly those who had dropped out of school to take advantage of the project to improve their lives.
