Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has indicated that the party would surprise the two major political parties in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in this year’s general election.

“I want to assure you that the PPP is ready for the 2012 polls and that it is going to be well-organized at every polling station to compete with other political parties with all seriousness” he emphasized.

The former Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the 2008 election made the assurance when he formally inaugurated a 580- member Eastern Regional and constituency executive for the party in Koforidua on Wednesday.

Dr Nduom said the party had met all the necessary requirements to become a political party and that it was waiting for the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide it with a provisional certificate for full recognition as a political party.

He said both the NDC and the NPP had nothing new for Ghanaians and that the country needed fresh ideas to facilitate economic development.

Dr Nduom urged members to stand firm in the face of all provocations and focus on their membership drive to win more members into the party.

He noted that the PPP was the only party that could rescue Ghanaians from their present economic hardship.

Dr Nduom said since its formation, many Ghanaians, including professionals such as lawyers, teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers were trooping to join the party.

He cautioned party supporters to guard against insulting their political opponents at the least provocation.

Dr Nduom announced that many supporters of the NPP and NDC had declared their intention to join the party and help bring it into power next year.

He gave the assurance that the party was ready to contest in all the 230 constituencies across the country.

Dr Nduom announced that February 25 this year had been chosen for the National Congress where an interim national executive and the flag- bearer would be outdoored.
