Volta CPP members pledge support for party

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the Volta Region has pledged its unreserved support and commitment to the National Leadership of the Party and the new agenda of a disciplined, serious, focused, credible and organized CPP.

A press statement signed by Mr Chris Zigah, CPP Volta Caucus Chairman, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said prominent members of the Party in the region known as the Volta Caucus have issued a statement to back the Leadership.

The statement said the Volta caucuses of the Party are not surprised by the declaration of intent by Mr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the 2008 flag bearer of the CPP, to form a new political party.

“This incident and other recent events are disruptive but could also provide a rear opportunity to rebuild the CPP at all levels as required by the revised constitution”, it added.

It said the Caucus believes that the harsh public criticism of Leadership is unfair as other elected officers have only been in office for 3 months adding, current leadership must appreciate the level of discontent within the Party because of consistent leadership failures over the years.

The statement noted that the leadership and the Central Committee must work to build internal cohesion through comradeship and trust and provide guidelines for action and ensure enforcement of discipline at all levels within the Party.

It said no individual member or group of persons should be allowed to appropriate the Party onto themselves or be allowed to disrespect the Party adding, the party must at all times remain supreme.

The Caucus called on all CPP members in the Volta Region to stand firm and remain loyal to the party and urged all members of the CPP to use the goodwill of the season to renew their commitment to the Party and give Leadership all the support required to rebuild “this great tradition”.
