Siem Offshore to charter two vessels for Eni’s oil operations in Ghana

A Platform Supply Vessel

Siem Offshore, a shipping company engaged in the provision of marine services to the offshore oil and gas industry, says it has entered into a contract with the Ghanaian subsidiary of Italian-based oil company Eni to provide two platform supply vessels (PSVs) for its operations offshore Ghana.

The two PSVs are Siem Louisa and Sophie Siem. The primary function of a PSV is to transport supplies to the oil platform and return other cargoes to shore.

“The term of the contracts are 100 days and 180 days with options, the contract shall commence 16th of January. The contracts are at market conditions,” the Cayman Islands-based firm said on its website January 3, 2012.

Eni entered Ghana in September 2009 when it announced the acquisition of majority stakes in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) and Offshore Cape Three Points South (OCTPS) exploration licences.
