Community to raise GH¢20,000 for development

The chiefs and the people of Akwamu and Akwamu Amanfo a twin town near Nsawam have on their recent Akwasidae festival launched a 2 year Development plan with the aim of raising GH¢20,000 for development projects.

Nana Yaa Oko III, Queen mother of Akwamu and also Nifa Hemaa of Adoagyiri Nsawam, said the projects to be developed under the development plan included the construction of schools, ICT center, day care center and a community centre.

Nana Yaa Oko told the GNA that, since Education is high on her priority list, all parents and guardians should enroll their children to schools to become good future leaders.

She called on the Akuapem South Municipal Director of Education, the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament to come to their aid with some of the district assembly common fund.

Nana Adade Agyiriwah, Odikro of Akwamu, said the people are contributing GH¢20 a man and GH¢10 a woman whiles non citizen to pay GH¢50 each.

Nana Adade Agyiriwah pledged to provide land for the project and called on those outside the country to aid them with any available resources.

He also appealed to the department of feeder roads to come to their aid in re-graveling of a 5 kilometer feeder road linking the town with Yawkro on the main Adeiso Nsawam trunk road.
