Small scale miner jailed for stealing

A 28- year-old small scale miner, Kwaku Addea,  has been sentenced to  three years imprisonment in hard labour by the Tarkwa circuit court for stealing 30 Ghana cedis,  nine 9 bags of  rice, eight tins of  Exeter corned beef and five tins  mackerel.
He pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant George Gyan’s wife, Margaret Gyan, returned home from town in the company of one Lydia Ampong.

Inspector Paddy said as soon as Margaret opened her main door she saw someone in her room and when she shouted thief the person dashed out of the room through the back door and Lydia who was then outside saw the accused running from the room into a nearby bush.

The complainant later caught Addae hiding in  an uncompleted building and was handed over to the police.
