Nominations for Ghana Entrepreneur Awards 2011 opens

Nominations for the Ghana Entrepreneur Awards 2011, have been opened for entries until February 10, 2012.

The awards are to honour outstanding Ghanaian citizens or naturalised entrepreneurs for their contribution to supporting economic growth and job creation in Ghana.

It is being organised by Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) in collaboration with Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

Award recipients would be honoured at a dinner scheduled for April 28 in Accra.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by Mr Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder and President of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana, said the awards would be on the theme; “Unleashing Entrepreneurial Capabilities To Meet The Global Challenges Of The 21st Century”.

It said the judging criteria would include an assessment of entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance and growth, vision and innovation, personal integrity and commitment, strategic marketing and corporate social responsibility involvement in Ghana’s economic growth.

A panel of judges will be selected from recognised industry sector personalities to review the nominations and decide winners in the various categories.

The Prestigious Award Categories are, Overall Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2011, Lifetime Entrepreneur, Special Entrepreneur Achievement, International Ghanaian Entrepreneur, Best Foreign Entrepreneur in Ghana, Serial Entrepreneur, Woman Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur, Most-Promising Entrepreneur.

Enterprises Award Categories are, Best Entrepreneur in Manufacturing and Industry, Agri-Business and Processing, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Medical Services, Herbal Services, Pharmaceutical Industry, Petroleum, Oil and Gas, Electronic Media, Advertising & Marketing Communications, Print Media and Publishing.

Others are Commercial Printing, Breweries and Beverages, Transportation and Logistics, Automobile, Hospitality Industry, Airline Travel and Tourism, Electrical Engineering, Real Estate Development, Civil Engineering, Books and Stationery
The rest are Cosmetics and Beauty Care, Education Services, ICT, Professional Services and Entertainment.

Three Corporate awards would be given to corporate institutions for supporting SMEs.in Ghana.

This year’s award would be under the Board Governorship of Dr Sam Mensah, CEO,SEM Group, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, CEO,UT Bank, Mr Kofi Nsiah Poku, CEO, Kinapharma Limited and Healtilife Limited, Kwame Achampong–Kyei, Executive Chairman ,GLICO Group, Dr Micheal Agyekum Addo, CEO, Kama Industries, Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, Executive Chairman, I-Tel Ghana,

Others are, Dan K. Mensah, Executive Director, Ghana Association of Bankers, Mrs Grace Amey-Obeng, CEO, FC Group of Companies, Mr Seth Adjei-Baah, President, Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr Ato Conduah, CEO, Ato Conduah & Associates.

Forty Ghanaian Entrepreneurs were awarded during the maiden edition last year, with Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank being adjudged the Overall Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2010.
