Have confidence in government – DCE

The  Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah has called on Ghanaians to have confidence in the government to transform the nation to an appreciable level.

He urged Ghanaians to exercise patience and stop discrediting the government and its leaders on any trivial issue.

In his New Year message to Ghanaians, Mr Aidoo-Mensah pointed out that ‘as Rome was not built in a day, gradually the government of Professor John Evans Atta Mills would take Ghana to the promised land” before his second term of office ends in January 2017.

The DCE said the successes chalked by the government in the relatively short period it had been in power were testimonies that it would deliver.

He said some of the achievements were the achieving of single digit inflation and maintaining it for about one year, stabilising the cedi against the major currencies, and the provision of numerous infrastructure, especially in education, health, roads and extension of electricity to rural communities.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah said it was unfortunate that the detractors of the government, especially the New Patriotic Party, had refused to acknowledge the government’s achievements and keeps on hurling insults on the President and other members of the government.

He said Prof Mills’ government would go down in history as one of the best government the nation has had and urged the electorate to ‘treat the noises being made on the airwaves by its detractors with the contempt they deserved’.

The DCE urged the electorate to show their appreciation to the government for the good work it had been doing by retaining it in power for more projects in their various Districts.

He urged Ghanaians to register when the voters’ registration exercise starts and cautioned against multiple registration.
