Asamoah Gyan scores but suffers ‘serious’ injury

Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan scored a penalty when his side Al Ain beat Emirates 4-0 in the UAE top-flight game today December 30, 2011.

But the striker suffered a serious injury during the match just three weeks before the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations starts in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, according to a news report by MTNfootball.com

The in-form attacker was taken off the match by Al Ain medics, the report says.

Gyan was expected to join the squad the day camping opens but with this injury it is not known if he will be fit to arrive in time, MTNfootball.com says.
