Reverend Joyce Kodade, Moderator of the West Volta Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EP) has advised the youth especially those with Christian background to shy away from negative peer influence.

Addressing the bi-annual study camp meeting of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Students Union (EPSU) in Koforidua, on the theme: “Behold I do a new thing,” he asked the youth to take advantage of the opportunities in the society that present themselves to enhance their capacities for the betterment of humanity.

Rev Kodade urged Christians to exhibit Christian values at all times and tasked members of the EPSU to lead lives worthy of emulation.

He challenged members of the EPSU and other Christian organisations to fight against students’ riots, which leads to the destruction of school property as a means of seeking redress to their grievances.

This, he said are not a true mark of a Christian youth.

The Accra-Tema Zonal President of the EPSU, Mr Francis Dzomeku advised the participants to take advantage of the camp to enhance and develop their potentials for the challenges ahead of 2012.

The five day camp meeting is being attended by more than 500 members of the EPSU from the Accra-Tema Zone, which includes Eastern Region.

The event is aimed at assisting the students to study and build their spiritual and intellectual capacity for the growth of the church and self development.
