Ghanaians mark Christmas

Ghanaians are on Sunday joining Christians all over the world to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ that occurred more than 2000 years ago.

Christmas marks one of the most important pillars of Christianity – the virgin birth of their saviour, Jesus Christ.

Churches and homes have been decorated with Christmas trees, ribbons and flowers ant there will be church services across the country as the day is marked.

The day is also being marked with picnics, get-togethers and family re-unions as well as exchange of messages of reconciliation and good wishes from friends and relatives.

In Bethlehem, where Christ was born, there was a midnight service while the Pope also celebrated mass in the Vatican.
