Government pays three months Single Spine Salary arrears

Mr Raphael K. Tufuor, Director of Controller and Accountant General’s Department on Thursday announced that three months salary arrears of public servants migrated onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) were paid this in December.

He said this should reflect in the accounts of the workers.

Mr Tufuor who made this known at a press conference in Accra said it was in fulfilment of President John Evans Atta Mills directive.

He explained that with the exception of staff of Ghana Education Service (GES), all institutions that had been migrated onto the SSSS had been paid three months salary arrears in addition to their salary for December.

Mr Tufuor said the staff of GES were only paid their December salary but their three months arrears would be paid by December 29, adding that the arrangement had been communicated to Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, Teachers and Educational Workers Union and Ghana Education Service.

He urged the commercial banks to facilitate payment of the salaries before the Christmas break.
