The Bosomase Water Intake in the Western Region is to be desilted and dredged to increase water inflow, Mr. Daniel Muomaalah, General Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), said on Wednesday.

The project would increase the volume at the Daboase Head Works for treatment and distribution particularly during the dry season, he said.

Mr. Muomaalah was speaking during the field tour of five-members of the Board of the GWCL to the Bosomase Intake and the Daboase Head Works in the Mpohor Wassa East District.

The members of the Board were Group Captain M.K.S. Dordor (rtd), Acting Chairman, Mr. Kweku Botwe, Acting Managing Director of GWCL, Mr. P.M.A. Pecku, Alhaji A.Ibrahima and Dr. Agnes Atia Apusiga.

Mr. Muomaalah said the control panel of the Bosomase Intake would also be refurbished. The intake at the Daboase Head works would be desilted and a damaged 3.3 3 KV electricity transformer cable replaced.

Mr.Muomaalah said contract for the projects were yet to be awarded.

He said galamsey activities in the Pra River were hindering the flow of sufficient water into the dam for treatment.

Mr. Muomaalah said proposals had been made to the government for the expansion of the Daboase and Inchaban Head Works.
