Ghana Black Stars end year 29th on FIFA rankings

Ghana’s Black Stars finished the year as the 29th best team in the world and second on the African continent.

The Stars were motionless on the latest ranking released by the world soccer governing body, Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) on Wednesday.

The Stars maintained their 761 points obtained in November.

The latest placing fell short of the all-time ranking of 14th position during the months of February, April and May of 2008.

Cote d’Ivoire finished the year as Africa’s best ranked team as their 16th position makes them the only team from the continent in the top 20.

Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, South Africa, Cape Verde and Tunisia complete the top 10 in Africa.

World Champions Spain finished the year for the first time as the best ranked team on the globe.

Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, England, Brazil, Portugal, Croatia, Italy and Argentina make up the top 10 in the world.
