Birim Central Municipal Assembly initiates over 60 projects

From 2009- 2011, the Birim Central Municipal Assembly has initiated more than 60 developmental projects to improve the standard of living of the people.

The projects cover sanitation, provision of educational facilities, health, rehabilitation of feeder roads and streetlights, extension of electricity supply and construction of boreholes and three-unit classroom block at Essam.

Ms Ophelia Koomson, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who made this known in an interaction with the media in Akyem Oda on Wednesday listed other projects implemented by the assembly to include the construction of a footbridge at Akyem Oda, renovation of a guest house and the residency of the MCE, rehabilitation of the Akyem Oda lorry park and the renovation of the Municipal Co-ordinating Director/Secretary offices.

Ms Koomson said 3,000 school uniforms were supplied to pupils, whilst the School Feeding programme was increased from three schools to 19 this year.

She said the assembly supported 76 people with disabilities to pay their fees.
