Kibi Government Hospital gets $10,000 asthmatic centre

The Okyeman Traditional Council at the weekend inaugurated $10,000 Asthmatic Centre at the Kibi Government Hospital.

It formed part of activities to mark the celebration of Odwiratuo festival of the chiefs and people of Akyem Abuakwa.

The construction of the centre was funded by Maa Safoa Duodu Foundation.

Mrs Jenifer Welbeck, Chairperson of the Foundation, said it was set up as a result of the death of a 13-year-old girl daughter of a member of the group, from asthma.

She said the group sought to help provide equipment and drugs to hospitals to help manage asthmatic patients.

Dr Yaw Otchere, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, commended the Foundation for the gesture, and said the facility was built at the opportune time because currently more than 80 asthmatic patients visited the hospital.

The Okyehene,   Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, who paid the registration fees of National Insurance Scheme for more than 400 people, urged health personnel to show love and compassion for patients.

Health personnel educated the people on best hygienic practices.
