130 police recruits pass out at Koforidua Training School

A total of 130 General Police Recruits passed out at the Koforidua Training School on Wednesday after a six-month training.

They were taught criminal law, criminal procedure, law of defense, English and French Languages, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and practical police duties, among others.

General Recruit Gideon Kwayisi Offei emerged the overall best recruit and was presented with a baton of honour and a certificate.

General Recruit Michael Buabeng, was adjudged the best in conduct, Stephen Amanquanor, best in drill, whiles Joel K. Attuah, emerged as the best marksman.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David Nenyin Ampah Benin, Director General, Welfare of the Ghana Police Service, reminded the Constables that a lot of responsibilities had been placed on them and so they should live up to the task.

He implored them not to indulge in negative practices that would dent the image of the Service.

“Personnel who exhibit tendencies of non-compliance with directives relating to their image cleansing would have themselves to blame”.

DCOP Ampah Benin noted that the Police Service had been perceived in some quarters as a corrupt, brutal and anti-human rights institution.

He indicated said the misconception had come about as a result of the misconduct of a handful of personnel.

DCOP Ampah Benin said to reverse that negative perception, the Police Administration had been resolute and embarked on an image cleansing crusade to smoke out miscreants in its midst.

“The Police Administration launched its five-year Strategic National Policing Plan (SNPP) in 2010 aimed at raising a Police Service of World Class Standard”, he said.
