Richard Kingson may be out of the journey – Ghana coach Stevanovic

Goran ‘Plavi’ Stevanovic head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars has said the journey may be over for Richard Kingson former number one goalkeeper of the team, after the veteran failed to make a place in the 25-man squad named for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, the coach noted that keeper Kingson who has been the nation’s number one since 2006 could not make the squad for the competition because he has not been in competition for the past 12 months.

“He has no club and has not been playing regularly so I don’t see him retaining his position in the team.

“I do not have a very clear picture about him and until he gets a club and starts playing on regular basis I don’t see him coming back to the squad”. He stated.

Coach Stevanovic justified the invitation of local goal keepers Daniel Agyei and Ernest Sowah, saying they have been with the team for sometime and I think they deserve a place in the final squad.

“I have confidence that they will be up to the task in Gabon”. The coach stated.
