Get yourselves insured under NHIS – DCE advises farmers

Mr. Robert Bakah Wavei, Sissala West District Chief Executive, has appealed to farmers in the District to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to have access to healthcare services.

That, he said, would guarantee good health for them and encourage them to undertake all year round farming to increase food production.

Mr. Wavei said this at the Upper West Regional Farmers Day celebration at Gwollu, where he appealed to traditional rulers to be at the forefront in ensuring that maternal deaths were reduced in the communities.

“Let us all ensure that all pregnant women have access to health facilities for antennal, delivery and post natal services; and never again should a woman die while giving life,” he said.

Mr. Wavei reminded farmers in the area about the devastating effects of bushfires on the individual and the national economy as a whole and said any farmer caught setting bushfire would be dealt with.

He appealed to security agencies in the road sector to enforce traffic laws to reduce road crashes.
