Farmers urged to insure farms

Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Agriculture, has urged farmers to insure their farms against the occurrence of flood and fire.

He also called on financial institutions to support farmers with credit facilities while the insurance companies engaged the farmers in their insurance activities.

The Minister said this during a welcome cocktail reception to honour of 66 farmer Awardees of the 27th National Farmer’s Day organized by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) in Accra on Monday.

The 27th Farmers’ Day ceremony is earmarked for Agona-Nsaba in the Central Region on December 2, on the theme:”Grow More Food; Research for Sustainable Agriculture Development.”

He advised the farmers to take the advantage of the improved research to learn best farming practices.

He commended the new companies that had joined the existing ones in celebrating the contributions of the hard work of the gallant farmers to national development.

Mr Stephen Kpordzih, Managing Director of ADB, said the bank was pleased to identify themselves with the success of the farmers.

He noted that ADB would continue to respond to the financial needs of farmers to grow and produce more food to feed the nation.
