Esiama premix landing beach yields dividends
Out of the amount, GH¢10,000 was used to purchase wire mesh, bashing bowls, fishing nets among other fishing accoutrement for the fishermen and fishmongers in the Esiama Zone.
The Secretary to the Esiama Premix Landing Beach Zone, Mr. Peter Yankson, who announced this at Esiama, indicated that by law, two thirds (2/3) of the proceeds should go to the fishing community adding, it was prudent to make the people aware of the finances and plans ahead of them and also to boost their morale to work harder.
According to him, the next proceeds would go into community development activities such as renovation of schools and building of toilets.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Daniel K. Eshun, indicated that it took a lot of effort by the local Member of Parliament, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, to get the District 3 landing zones and urged them to maintain it well for the benefit of all.

Mr. Eshun indicated that the prerogative to purchase items was the sole responsibility of the landing beach committee adding, that the MP and DCE were only to give advice.
He noted that Krisan-Atuabo Landing Beach had earlier declared their profit of which they purchased 40 plastic chairs each for eleven communities in their area for their meetings adding, that Ankobrah Landing Beach had also indicated that they would use their profit for a community shed and a store room for fishmongers in the area.

He reiterated the importance of the fishing industry adding, it was for their wellbeing that the Government had incorporated their activity into the MASLOC programme to give them outboard motors to enhance their work and pay back by installments.
Mr. Nicole pointed out that the President Evans Atta Mills was passionate about the premix and so called on all to manage it well adding, if anyone misappropriated the finance of the premix, he would have to face the wrath of the President.
