Leadership of associations should exhibit transparency – Minister

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Mike Hammah, has appealed to leaders of associations and civil societies to exhibit transparency to ensure sustainability of associations.

“When the members are given access to information they are empowered and this can can go a long way to strengthen the trust reposed in them for effective development.”

Mr Hammah, the Member of Parliament for Effutu, made the call when the executives of Winneba Accra Residents Association paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Winneba.

The visit was to introduce themselves to the Minister and also to brief him on the objectives of the Association and to ask for his support.

Mr Hammah appealed to the leadership of the association to let transparency, accountability and probity be their tool and not to lord their position on the members.

Mr Festous K. Aggrey, Chairman of the Association, said the association is to unite all Winneba people residing in Accra.

Tufohene of Effutu, Nana Otubua Siripi, appealed to the executives at the association to desist from using the association to meddle in chieftaincy matters allow themselves to be used as tools for chieftaincy affairs in the town.

He encouraged them to work harder to bring citizens of Winneba resident in Accra together for the development of the town.

The chairman of the association was accompanied by Mr Seth Adams, Vice Chairman, Mr John Sackye, Secretary, Miss Kate Impraim, Treasurer.
