Ghana to release 2012 Africa Nations Cup squad on December 15

Ghana would release her 23 member squad for the 2012 Africa Nations Cup to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on December 15, 2011, 37 days ahead of the continental football fiesta.

Head coach Goran Stevanovic is expected to announce the squad at a press conference on Thursday, 15 December, after which the team will commence preparations for the tournament, which places Ghana among the favourites to win the trophy.

According to GNA Sports sources at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the 23-man squad will then begin camping in Rustenberg, South Africa, on January 7, 2012.

The camping, which is expected to end on January 19, would see the Stars playing an international friendly match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and a local side before proceeding to Franceville in Gabon, where the team would be based for the competition.

Ghana, would open the competition with a game against debutants Botswana on Tuesday, January 24, three days after the commencement of the competition.
