Ghana FA Cup to commence on December 13

The FA Cup Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has fixed December 13 for the commencement of the 2011/12 Knock-Out Competition.

The competition, which is entering its second year, after ten years absence on the FA’s calendar, will involve Clubs from the Premier League, Division One and Two Clubs, with the winner representing Ghana in the Confederation Cup Competition.

Information gathered by GNA Sports from the GFA Secretariat indicates that the competition will be formally launched on Friday, November 25.

The competition will commence with the lower division clubs battling each other in the prelims, with the Premier League Clubs joining the rest in the second phase.

It would be recalled that 112 Clubs participated in the competition during the last season with Nania FC emerging as the ultimate winners after beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the finals at the Accra Sports Stadium.
