Donewell manager jailed for embezzling GH¢25,409.33

A 53-year old manager of the Donewell Co-operative Union has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court for embezzling GH¢25,409.33.

Seth Mensah Bonsu pleaded not guilty to the crime.

Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah Apenteng told the Court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the complainants are members of the Board of the Co-operative Union, a financial intermediary company operated by Methodist Church at Dichemso in Kumasi.

On the January 1, this year, the Board detected that the said amount was missing from the company’s account and this was confirmed by an audit.

The prosecution said when asked to explain, Bonsu confessed having misappropriated the money and made a refund of GH¢1,500.00.

A formal report was therefore made to the Police and he was arrested
