Pharmacists withdraw services in Koforidua

Pharmacists in the Koforidua Regional Hospital have since Monday withdrawn their services to the general public due to the grading of their salary under the Single Spine Salary Structure.

Currently the pharmacy department of the hospital is only issuing out drugs to patients on admission and those brought into the hospital under emergency conditions.

Dr Cardinal Kofi Newton, the Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, said patients from the Out Patients Department of the hospital have to go out to buy the required prescription given them by their medical officers.

When the GNA visited the hospital on Tuesday, there were several patients at the OPD but the pharmacy department was deserted.
