Fire guts Nyinahin Gyaase Stool House

Properties running into hundreds of thousands of Cedis were lost when raging fire swept through the Nyinahin Gyaase Stool House at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.

It completely razed the 16-bedroom house.

The Fire started at about 1400 hours and nothing could be salvaged after firefighters backed by two fire tenders arrived from Nkawie and Bibiani to fight it.

The incident once again brought to the fore the need to establish a fire station at Nyinahin, the District Capital.

Fire emergencies in the area are always attended to by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Nkawie and Bibiani, a situation that simply does not allow for swift response because of the long distance they have to travel.

Added to this, are the many speed rumps constructed on the Kumasi-Bibiani Highway.

The District Fire Officer, Joseph Imbrah, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said it was caused by a  power surge.

He said prior to the incident, the community had experienced intermittent power cuts.
