Newly crowned 2011 Miss World to undertake charity project in Ghana

Ivian Sarcos - 2011 Miss World Queen

The newly crowned 2011 Miss World, Ivian Sarcos will undertake a charity project in Ghana, according to organizers of the pageant.

Ivian Sarcos, 22, from Venezuela, was adjudged winner of the pageant November 6, 2011 in London.

She will be working together with Ghana’s representative at the pageant Ms Stephanie Karikari, who also emerged winner of the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ last night.

“We’re going to Ghana to work on a project there and I know that she’s a down-to-earth person and she won’t be afraid to get her hands dirty,” Miss World chairman and chief executive Julia Morley told the AFP.

“I want to carry on doing the wonderful work that Beauty with a Purpose and the Miss World organisation does and to help people in need,” Ivian Sarcos told the AFP through a translator, adding that she wanted to help “people like me” – other orphans.

She will now spend a year working with Miss World’s Beauty with a Purpose charitable programme, which has raised $800 million in its 40 years, AFP reports.
