ILGS organises orientation workshop for Zonal/Town/Area Council

Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) on Friday organized an orientation workshop for Zonal/Town/Area Councils and Unit Committee members in the Shama District.

The workshop was meant to revise participants’ functions and responsibilities to ensure an effective and efficient administration of the Assembly.

Mr. Samuel Adjarquah, Deputy Director of ILGS, who was a facilitator for the workshop, charged the Zonal, Town, Area Council and Unit Committee members to perform their task devoid of any selfish and partisan interest.

He urged them to avail themselves to acquire knowledge and skills that would benefit the Assembly and enhance the decentralization system.

Mr. Adjarquah asked them to develop positives work attitude and work as a team to accelerate the overall development of the Assembly.

Some of the topics treated included: “The District Assembly System and the Roles of functionaries,” “The Structure and Functions of District Assembly Sub-Structure,” and the “Roles and Responsibilties of Unit Committee Members.”

The District Chief Executive for Shama, Mr. Enoch Kojo Appiah, indicated that for the local government system to improve there was the need for all hands to be on deck rather than individual parochial interest.

He commended the ILGS for organising the workshop and urged the trainees to show seriousness in acquiring knowledge that would benefit the entire people of the district.
