Plan Ghana office burnt

Items valued at GH¢20,000.00 belonging to Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organisation were burnt in a fire outbreak in Winneba.

The items destroyed included teaching and learning materials, computers, printers and other valuable documents.

Mr Abraham Anakwah, Effutu Municipal Fire Station Officer told the Ghana News Agency in Winneba, that he received a distress call around 2330 hours that there was fire outbreak at Kojo Baidu a suburb of Winneba .

He said personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the place and found that members of the community members were trying to put off the fire at the office.

Mr Anakwa said due to the acquisition of a new fire fighting tender personnel of the GNFS were able to put off the within 15 minutes.

He attributed the cause of the fire to power fluctuation.

Mr Anakwa advised the public against loading the plugs of their electrical gadgets in one socket and should put off their lights and other electrical equipment when leaving their homes to avoid any fire outbreak.

He urged landlords to employ qualify electricians to wire their premises and also acquire fire extinguishers.
