Winneba Area Fire Station gets new fire tender

The Effutu Municipal National Fire Service has received a new multi-purpose Fire Fighting Tender after three years without the equipment.

The tender has a ladder for high buildings, a larger tank and a monitor.

It forms part of the consignment of vehicles and other equipment provided by the Government to the National Fire Service to enhance their operations.

Nii Ephraim, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, handed over the keys to the tender to the Divisional Officer One, Mr Alfred A. Acheampong, at a ceremony in Winneba on Monday.

Nii Ephraim urged the personnel to ensure regular maintenance of the tender to prolong its life span.

He commended the Government for supporting Departments and institutions to execute their duties effectively towards the achievement of the Better Ghana Agenda.

The MCE expressed the hope that with the provision of the tender, the Service would improve upon their operations by responding quickly to distress calls.

Mr Acheampong thanked the Government for the provision of the tender.

The Central Regional Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Kwesi Ankonam Quaison, appealed to the public to avoid practices that could cause fire outbreaks.

The Very Reverend Eldad Bonney, Presiding Member of the Assembly, appealed to Ghanaians to help protect the environment.
