The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has landed a kit sponsorship deal with American firm, Saucony from now up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

According to the GAA, Saucony, which is noted with premium running shoes and athletes’ apparel, will provide kits for the national athletics team at major championships including the 2012 African Athletics Championship and next year’s Olympic Games.

The package includes two sets of kits, one each for the continental championship scheduled for Benin next year and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The deal was brokered during the World Athletics Championship held in Daegu, South Korea last August.

According to information made available to GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday, the GAA team which was made up of Professor Francis Dodoo (President) and Bawa Fuseini (Secretary Secretary) concluded the agreement with Mark Bossardet, Vice President of Sports Marketing for Saucony on the sidelines of the global championship.

The move is a big plus for the Professor Dodoo-led GAA and for the country’s athletes after their embarrassing participation at major competition without any kit sponsor.

The national athletes were without a kit sponsor during the three previous international competitions at Africa Athletics Championship in Kenya in 2010, the World Athletics Championships and the 2011 All Africa Games.

The team has been without a kit sponsor after their partnership with German manufacturers, Puma ended some few years ago.
