Ahmed Toure’s brace powers Kotoko to victory

Ahmed Toure scored twice to enable Kumasi Asante Kotoko come from behind to defeat Bechem United F/C 3-2 in their Glo-Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The match which in the initial stages looked sloppy saw both sides taking a long time to settle with some crunchy tackles by players of the two sides.

Kotoko took the lead in the 37th minute when Nathaniel Asamoah combined effectively with the Ivorian import Ahmed Toure to enable him put the ball in the net to send the stadium ‘alight’.

Bechem who seemed undaunted, responded swiftly five minutes later as they regrouped in midfield and took advantage of a counter-attack to score the equalizer courtesy Peter Ofori-Quaye who soared above the Kotoko defence to nod home an in-swinger to bring the scores at a level peg.

When the the second half resumed, it was Bechem United who quickly stringed together good passes as they attacked their opponents in droves and it came as no surprise when they went ahead to score their second goal in a dramatic fashion with Akwasi Adu finding the net in the 62nd minute.

With defeat starring them in the face, Kotoko became more aggressive in their approach to the game and began using the flanks to their advantage.

In one of their incursions upfront, Nathaniel Asamoah unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot but the ball took a rebound off the goal posts for an adventurous Ahmed Toure to tap in for the equalizer in the 70th minute.

Toure’ in a brave move went solo to hit a brace for the Porcupine Warriors in the 75th minute to end the match 3-2 in favour of Kotoko.
