Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly cautions traders not to sell on pavements

Authorities of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have ordered traders doing business on the streets and pavements at Bantama and other parts of the Metropolis to voluntarily re-locate or face forceful eviction by Thursday, October 20.

It said there were enough space at the newly constructed Abinkyi market as well as the markets in Bantama, Kwadaso and Patase for those ejected from the Race Course to pave way for the Sunshine City Project.

A statement signed by Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame, the KMA Public Relations Officer, in Kumasi, said it was completely unacceptable for anybody to carry out business activities on the streets.

It therefore demanded that the traders quickly moved into the various satellite markets built purposely for them in their own interest.
