Ghana’s legendary boxer, Azumah Nelson writes his first book

Former boxing champion, legendary Azumah Nelson has written his first ever book on the sporting game, boxing, in which he earned many laurels.

The book titled “12 Rounds of Boxing and Life”, Azumah says, will be launched November 26, 2011 at the Accra Girls Senior High School.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be invested into the Azumah Nelson Foundation Academy, the former WBC Featherweight Champion revealed on Metro TV’s programme Thank God is Friday (TGIF) October 14, 2011.

He said the academy, to be located at Akuse, will train deprived children in sports and give them education.

Mr Yaw Sakyi, Programmes Coordinator for the Foundation, said that Azumah will soon be writing a special Memo which will reveal some of his backstage events during and after on some of his special bouts.

Azumah Nelson has won five titles during his boxing career. They are the Ghana Featherweight Title, African Featherweight Title, Commonwealth Featherweight Title, WBC Featherweight Title and the WBC Super Featherweight/Junior Lightweight Title.

He has received more than 50 awards in his lifetime and many streets and buildings have been named after him.
