Liberty beat ex-players 3-0 in Sly Tetteh farewell match

The current team of Liberty Professionals beat a former players team of the Club 3-0 on Friday in a farewell match in honour of passing away of the President of the Club, Alhaji Ibrahim Sly Tetteh.

The match took place at the club’s training grounds, the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman and it is to herald the final funeral rites of Alhaji Tetteh, who passed away three weeks ago in Cape Coast.

The friendly encounter served an opportunity for the current and former-players to pay their last respect to the man, under whose guidance they blossomed into stardom.

The ex-players team featured members who played an integral role in the qualification of the Club to the elite division a little over a decade ago.

Amongst them were Cudjoe Addo, now goalkeeper’s trainer of the Club, Emmanuel Asante “Alaska,” Mustapha Essuman, Samuel Lamptey, Osabu Tetteh, Samuel Addo, Albert Neequaye, Yahaya Tetteh, Peter Ofori Quaye, Albert Batsa and Nurudeen Collison.

The rest are Emmanuel Ansong, Maxwell Mensah, Razak Ibrahim, Mark Adu Amofa and Kwame Frimpong “Pele.”

Team captain Michael Helegbe, Latif Salifu and Issa Yakubu were the scorers for the current Liberty team.

The final funeral rites of Alhaji Tetteh will be held on Saturday, October 1 at the Carl Reindorf Park.
