Ghana to host 2011 CAF Awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Ghana as hosts of the 2011 CAF Awards on Thursday, December 22 in Accra.

A statement on the CAF website culled by GNA Sports said that the decision was taken by the Executive Committee of CAF at its meeting in Cairo, last Wednesday.

It will be the third time Ghana will be hosting the annual event designed to honour footballers and administrators who have distinguished themselves during the year under review.

Ghana hosted the Awards Gala in 2006 and 2009 at the Accra International Conference Centre and the Banquet Hall, State House respectively.

On both occasions, Ivorian Didier Drogba was crowned the Best Player of the Year.
