Work starts on GH¢7.1m Walewale/Gambaga road

The government has released GH¢7, 103,174.64 for the construction of the 11-killometer Walewale-Gambaga road and work has begun.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Moses Bukari Mabengba, who cut a sod for work to begin, said tarring of the road was one of the major campaign promises of the government.

He said work is expected to be complete in 18 months.

Mr. Adam Imoro, the District Chief Executive for East Mamprusi, said when the road is completed it would open up the area to business activities and improve the economic status of the people.

He said his outfit had undertaken numerous development projects in areas of education, health, water and sanitation.

Mr. Imoro said 20 schools that were under trees had been accommodated and over 3000 dual-desks had been provided to some schools across the district.

He said 45 communities in the Mamprugu area would be connected to electricity through the rural electrification project.
