MASLOC disburse GH¢190,850 in Kwaebibirem District

The Micro Finance and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC) of the Kwaebibirem District Assembly, from December, 2010 to May, 2011 had disbursed a total amount of GH¢190,850 to 25 groups and individuals in the area.

Thirty-four additional applications are under consideration.

Mr Emmanuel R.A. Osae, District Chief Executive (DCE), made this known at the ordinary meeting of the assembly at Kade on Tuesday.

He however expressed worry about the poor recovery rate of the loans.

Mr Osae said the money given out was not “free money” but a loan repayable after a period of time.

He appealed to all beneficiaries to repay their loans on time to enable others to enjoy the facility.

Touching on the National Forest Plantation Programme, the DCE said about 119.75 hectares of degraded land was identified, cleared and planted at Akwatia by the Ghana Consolidated Diamond at Adankrono and Sakyikrom.

He said the programme is facing serious challenges such as land litigation, non-involvement of landowners and farmers farming on the identified lands.
